Ludmilla is an independent, self-taught photographer and visual artist, living and working in the east of France. Having studied architecture but never dropping her camera, she went on to practice as an architectural photographer. Her experience of living in Brussels from 2015 to 2017, meeting architects, artists and occupying a shared studio, gave her a fresh new gaze. She would go on to become quite influenced by the Belgium way of photographing architecture.
Eventually, she went back to France in an attempt to become closer to the architectural scene of her region. She now considers herself a discrete and respectful photographer, preferring to take calm (mostly frontal) and not so colorful pictures.
While not taking assignments from architects, she works on personal projects such as Vittel Promenades and Documenter Lunéville which both aim to closely document a familiar territory. The former had been shot in a week and has been already exhibited twice, while the latter is a long-term project (whose progress is visible on her website).
↪ From context research to spatial documentation, photography is as much a conceptual tool as key communication artefact.
